Teaser

A few weeks before the heist launched, we introduced the event in a teaser – showing a glimpse of the life of a NPC working at the stock exchange. On the campaign site was a fully functioning stock broker website, where players could participate with (fake) money. Everyone got $10,000 to invest however they’d like – with a prize at the end.

The Trading Platform

Each company on the website mirrored the companies in the Fear&Greed heist, essentially letting you act as a NPC and be part of the narrative. You could read up on stocks, buy them and sell them. On your portfolio, you could see your previous buys and sells, and your total balance. Players were free to stop anytime – the end balance in the end is what they competed with.

Even though stock investing is mostly gamble, there was a way to beat the competition. We used our in-game news outlet The Gateway Report as a daily outlet for covering fictional news relating to the narrative events of the game, hinting about if a particular stock would go up or down. Below is a selection of the 60+ articles we published during the 2 week event.
